Budget Adjustments for AI
Apple is reportedly reducing the daily budget allocated to its engineering teams for AI usage. This adjustment marks a shift for the company, which has been actively integrating AI tools into its internal development workflows.
In October, the daily AI spending cap for engineering teams was lowered from $300 to $200. Further reductions are expected, with some allowances potentially dropping to $100 per day. For departments outside of engineering, Apple is reportedly considering a daily limit as low as $25.

Industry Shift Toward AI Cost Control
The broader technology sector is moving away from unrestricted AI usage. After an initial period of rapid adoption driven by expectations of efficiency gains, many organizations are now implementing token rationing and stricter fiscal oversight as the operational costs of large-scale AI deployment become more apparent.
Questions remain regarding the disparity between the high costs of building and maintaining AI infrastructure and the measurable productivity benefits that these tools provide to corporate operations.
