Google’s AI can manage entire phone interactions with local businesses through a new capability introduced for the Pixel 11.
Live Transcripts and Control
Instead of dialing manually, users can instruct Gemini to place the call via the Gemini app. The system calls the business, introduces itself, navigates automated phone menus, waits on hold, and conducts the conversation. Users maintain oversight via a live transcript view and can take over the conversation at any point.
Rollout and Availability
Google previously previewed a related tool that contacted local stores to verify product availability without offering manual takeover options. Other companies, such as Meta, are also exploring automated voice calling systems for AI agents. The new Gemini feature is rolling out as an early preview for paid subscribers enrolled in the Phone by Google Public Beta on the Pixel 11 in the United States.
