Offline Transcription

Google has released an experimental note-taking app that can transcribe meetings and audio files entirely offline. The app, called Google AI Edge Foresight, is free to use and runs on macOS using the company’s on-device EmbeddingGemma 2 model.

Google’s AI note-taking app transcribes your meetings completely offline

Google AI Edge Foresight uses an on-device model to process your audio and notes without connecting to the cloud.

Features and Integration

Similar to other AI note-taking tools, Foresight summarizes meetings while providing a workspace for personal notes. Users can jot down shorthand bullet points during a session, and the application transforms them into polished notes derived from the transcript.

Along with transcribing meetings, Foresight includes a built-in assistant designed to answer questions about recorded discussions. Users can also connect local files for the application to reference during queries, ensuring audio, transcripts, and notes remain on the local machine.

Compatibility

Google AI Edge Foresight is currently optimized for computers running Apple Silicon, distinguishing itself from cloud-dependent alternatives by operating entirely on-device.
