Strong Financial Results

Palantir delivered a strong third-quarter earnings report, surpassing consensus expectations across multiple financial metrics.

Despite the earnings beat, stock movement remained muted as indicators suggested potential moderation in enterprise sales growth.

Revenue grew 96% year-over-year and 20% sequentially to $2.31 billion, topping analyst projections of $2.18 billion. Adjusted earnings per share reached 44 cents, while the company also raised its full-year revenue guidance.

Commercial Revenue Milestone

For the first time, Palantir's U.S. commercial revenue surpassed its U.S. government revenue, reaching $984 million compared to $953 million in government contracts.

Growth in the commercial sector is largely attributed to adoption of the company's AI software, which supports frontier and custom-trained open-weight models securely without exposing proprietary data to outside labs.

Shifting Contract Dynamics

At the same time, Palantir noted that enterprise customers are increasingly favoring shorter-term trials, pointing to faster deployment cycles alongside quicker evaluation periods.

CEO Alex Karp highlighted on an earnings call that commercial interactions involve quicker deployment and shorter contract durations, though with subsequent expansion potential.

This reflects a broader enterprise trend where corporations quickly test AI solutions while retaining the flexibility to alter or cancel commitments.

Karp used one off-color metaphor after another to describe how unconcerned he was about holding onto his enterprise business.

Karp expressed confidence in customer retention as incoming corporate interest remains elevated.

Contract Value Metrics

While total U.S. enterprise contract value reached $1.46 billion for the quarter, the figure represents a decline from the record $2.13 billion reported in the previous period.

Upcoming quarters will clarify whether Palantir sustains its enterprise trajectory, with management raising full-year U.S. commercial revenue guidance to exceed $3.559 billion.
