Rabbit's New Standalone AI Agent
Rabbit, the company behind the R1 device, has launched OS3, a new standalone AI agent. This agentic operating system runs in the cloud but is designed to operate locally across Windows, Mac, and Linux devices, removing the dependency on its dedicated hardware.

OS3 Functionality and Access
Users can link up to five devices to a single OS3 account and integrate their preferred AI models. The system is designed to automatically identify the necessary devices, files, applications, and AI models to complete specific tasks. OS3 is accessible via a dedicated desktop site, through paired messaging applications like Telegram or iMessage, and remains available on Rabbit’s R1 device.
Future Hardware Plans
Rabbit founder Jesse Lyu confirmed to Wired that the company has ceased manufacturing R1 devices. However, Rabbit is not abandoning AI hardware entirely. The company is reportedly shifting its focus to a new 'cyberdeck' device, which will also run OS3 and is expected to launch within months.
Privacy Commitments
Rabbit states that its OS3 system will not store, copy, use, or sell user data. Despite this, the company clarifies that chats and associated memories will be retained on its servers. It also notes that any other AI providers integrated with OS3 will manage user data according to their individual privacy policies.
