Conversational Search
YouTube is adding new artificial intelligence capabilities to YouTube Music designed to assist listeners in discovering music, exploring artists, and finding podcasts.
Unveiled at the Made On YouTube event, the updates include Ask Music, a conversational tool for audio libraries, and Your Podcast Lineup, a personalized audio guide.
Integrated directly into the mobile application, Ask Music allows users to describe desired listening material in natural language instead of searching for individual tracks or artists. The functionality spans the catalog of over 300 million songs, encompassing official releases, remixes, live performances, covers, and DJ sets. Listeners can utilize the tool to construct custom queues, examine artist backgrounds, or investigate music history.

Rather than relying on manual keyword entry, queries can be typed conversationally. For example, users can request mixes based on tracks that influenced a specific song or inquire about instrumentation and production details.

Podcast Discovery
YouTube Music is also deploying Your Podcast Lineup, an automated audio guide focused on podcast recommendations.
The feature addresses discovery challenges in a crowded media landscape, helping users navigate growing content libraries and maintain awareness of new episodes.
Appearing on the dedicated podcast page, the feature delivers a weekly spoken preview detailing recommended shows and the reasoning behind each suggestion before transitioning directly into suggested episodes.
Rival platform Spotify recently integrated artificial intelligence features aimed at generating personalized audio content based on user prompts.
These updates form part of broader platform initiatives to integrate machine learning across streaming services, following earlier experiments with automated audio hosts.
Both features are scheduled for global rollout to standard and premium subscribers.
