H3C Features and Launch
Bambu Lab’s long-anticipated tool changer will launch on November 3rd. Dubbed the H3C, the 3D printer has 9 tools held by a Vortex-like rack mounted on the front of the chamber. Tool changers are the wave of the future, as they can switch colors faster and with less waste than Bambu Lab’s current AMS system.
Unfortunately, most of the information about the new 3D printer is shrouded in secrecy, but there are plenty of details that are already public knowledge. Bambu Lab is quite proud of this latest engineering feat, which you can see in the video below, and I’ll admit, I’m pretty impressed, too.
Hardware Specifications
Here’s what we can confirm about the H3C: It is a member of the H-line of flagship printers, which includes the H2S, H2D, and H2C. As you can imagine, it is most similar to its namesake, the H2C, which is a 7-tool induction-heated nozzle swapper with a motorized Vortex rack to hold tools not in use. The H2C is one of the larger Bambu Lab machines, with a 330 x 320 x 325mm build volume.
The teaser video shows the tool rack dropping down, along with a metallic snick. Tool heads that are stored above the build plate are not going to get in your way when you’re watching that first layer go down. Visibility on the Bambu H3C is expected to be clear compared to systems that force users to peer through a fixed overhead tool rack.
Early leaks and speculation pointed to various configurations, but the official preview clearly shows nine colorful Bowden tools arching over the top of the printer.
Multitasking Capabilities
The H2 line has been touted as a home manufacturing hub, raising questions about whether the H3C follows the same path. Discussions with company leadership have previously highlighted an interest in creating multitasking machines capable of performing operations beyond standard 3D printing.
While some previous multi-tool integrations have drawn mixed reactions, ongoing developments in cutting, embossing, and automated tool handling suggest that advanced multitasking remains a priority for the engineering teams.
Further details, including additional surprises regarding the printer's capabilities, are scheduled to be revealed on November 3rd.
