Overview
Why settle for ordinary when you can spice up your gaming setup with a pair of unique-looking RGB-laden desktop PC speakers? Edifier’s Hecate G2000 Pro speakers instantly stand out in both looks and sound, with the small desktop 2.0 speakers outputting a much larger soundstage than their size would have you believe. These versatile speakers are enjoyable for both gaming and music listening, and offer good value with plenty of connectivity options.
Design and Build
The design of the Edifier Hecate G2000 Pro 2.0 system features an unusual squished and elongated hexagonal shape, with a clear, see-through speaker enclosure and bright RGB lighting. They look unique and modern, and while the RGB can be turned off, it adds a futuristic flair. Both speakers aim the sound toward your ears with a 10° tilted angle built into the shape of the speaker, eliminating the need for angled desktop speaker pads.

The right speaker contains all the tech, with controls on the top of the speaker via four rubberized silicone buttons, and power and connectivity options on the rear. The two speakers are connected by a hardwired 1.5-meter braided cord. Large rubber feet on the bottom of the speakers soothe vibrations and stop them from slipping, lending a sturdy and weighty feel.

On the rear of the speakers is the opening for the bass reflex port, visible inside the transparent speaker enclosure and complete with a mesh dust filter midway along the port to keep the interior clean.
Performance
The Edifier Hecate G2000 Pro speakers handle gaming and media playback well across various inputs, including PC connections and mobile Bluetooth streaming.
In gaming, the sound is clear and positional audio cues are easy to detect. Virtual surround sound enabled via the Xear software works well in games with dedicated spatial mixing, though stereo titles may sound overly reverberant. While they lack the deep, room-shaking floor rumble of a dedicated 2.1 system with a subwoofer, explosions and gunfire remain distinct and impactful for a compact 2.0 layout.
The absence of a subwoofer port limits extreme low frequencies, but the 32W total output provides plenty of headroom for bedroom setups without disturbing neighbors. The default flat EQ offers the cleanest sound profile, avoiding artificial bloat.

Inside the enclosure is a single 3-inch speaker driver. Relying on one driver without separate tweeters means it handles a broad frequency range, causing minor muddying at lower listening levels. However, the overall soundstage remains impressive relative to the physical footprint.
Connectivity
Connectivity options include an AUX port, a USB-C port for direct PC audio, and Bluetooth. Wired connections yield noticeably cleaner audio than Bluetooth. A 3.5mm headphone jack is also located on the rear for private listening.

The downloadable companion software is quite basic, offering toggles for EQ, Dynamic Bass, and virtual surround options. However, the interface features tiny interactive elements that can prove cumbersome to navigate.
Adjusting lighting settings through the software can occasionally conflict with active media playback apps like Spotify. Fortunately, the software is entirely optional, as the physical buttons handle core functions adequately.

Conclusion
At a $249 MSRP, the Edifier Hecate G2000 Pro speakers represent a solid mid-range option. They improve upon the older G2000 model with higher power output, larger drivers, and enhanced aesthetics, making them an appealing choice for users seeking clean desktop audio paired with custom RGB illumination.
