Introduction to the Fitbit Edge
Google’s Fitbit lineup expanded with the introduction of the Fitbit Edge, a new wearable that is positioned between the Fitbit Air and Pixel Watch.
Priced at $179.99, it combines a slim band with an OLED display for checking map directions, notifications, weather, and music controls.
Health and Fitness Features
Like the Pixel Watch and Fitbit Air, the Edge works with Google Health Coach, powered by Gemini, which requires a Google Health Premium subscription. The coach uses fitness, health, and medical information to assemble weekly routines and workout plans, adjusting them around user schedules.
The device also includes Google’s Health Guardian feature, designed to spot notable changes in health measurements over time, including indicators related to blood pressure and insulin resistance.

Activity Tracking and Performance
Google states the Fitbit Edge automatically recognizes and logs up to 100 activities, including runs, bike rides, and walks. It uses context from movement to track progress toward weekly goals. The device supports more than 50 exercise modes and offers on-screen prompts during workouts.
The built-in GPS is rated as 40% more accurate than the previous generation, according to the company, and sleep-stage detection is reported to be 15% more accurate.
Battery and Availability
The battery provides up to seven days on a single charge, and the wearable features water resistance up to 50 meters.
The Fitbit Edge is available for preorder through the Google Store, with general store availability scheduled for October 27.
Color options include Obsidian, Fog, Olive, and Canyon. Additionally, a Stephen Curry Special Edition is available for $219.99.
