Claude Duet is Anthropic's answer to Meta Muse and OpenAI Dots
Anthropic subscribers in the US can join a waitlist to try the new agent.
Introduction to Claude Duet
Anthropic has introduced Claude Duet, a personal agent designed to match similar offerings from competitors. As part of a research preview, the company announced the new tool, noting that it brings attention to what matters, completes requested tasks, continues working in the background, and verifies actions before proceeding. A waitlist is currently open for US-based Claude subscribers.
Positioned as a proactive agent, Duet generates a daily briefing featuring action items compiled from connected applications. Users can assign diverse tasks ranging from simple meeting schedules to complex projects like dashboard creation, financial forecasting, prototyping, and web app development.
Standalone Apps and Background Execution
Duet runs on the Opus 5.5 model and is accessible via standalone Android and iOS applications. The agent operates on its own virtual machine, allowing it to complete background tasks without requiring an active Claude session.
Subscribers to the $20 per month Pro plan will receive access upon general availability. Usage of Duet is shared with other Claude tools, prompting measures to manage rate limits effectively.
To conserve plan limits, Duet reviews connected accounts every few hours rather than continuously. Users can customize message frequency and topic preferences.
Security and Privacy Controls
Anthropic integrated a new classifier and system prompt to prevent sensitive information leaks. Duet does not directly access passwords or sign-in tokens, restricting health and personal financial data unless explicitly permitted by the user.
The overall utility of Duet depends on user trust and willingness to share digital contexts with an AI agent.
