Introduction to the Follow Me Kit

The Antigravity A1 positions itself as a capable beginner drone, designed for users who want to focus on flying and autonomous filming rather than manual piloting.

The hardware package brings a follow-me drone experience to the market at a much lower price point.

The Antigravity A1 is now available with a dedicated Follow Me Kit.

Previously, experiencing the system required wearing the manufacturer's FPV goggles and paying upwards of $1,599 for the complete set. Antigravity has lowered the barrier to entry to $799 in the US by introducing a new package that replaces the original headset and motion controller with a wristwatch and a smart ring.

Performance and Controls

The core concept turns the drone into an automated robot cameraman capable of following and filming targets with minimal gear.

Evaluations of the new kit reveal a generally positive impression of its portability and convenience.

Instead of initializing a bulky headset, users can simply unpack the drone and wristwatch, launch the aircraft directly from their hand with a button press, and let it autonomously follow them while dodging obstacles.

Operators can use arm gestures to nudge the drone in various directions while filming. The wristwatch provides a swipeable live preview of the camera feed, allowing users to select quickshots or use on-screen sliders to manually guide the aircraft out of tight spots. The included ring acts as an extra button for one-handed launching and repositioning.

A wristwatch screen controls a drone flying right above the person’s hand. A ring controller is also visible.

The watch features a modular screen design that detaches from the watchband frame via a quick-release mechanism.

Limitations and Software Rough Edges

Source reviews note that the A1 is not entirely infallible, occasionally struggling with complex environments such as power lines, thin tree branches, or utility pole guy wires during transit.

Several software friction points remain. The source review highlights sluggish touchscreen response times, manual mode switching requirements for hand landings, and the need to manually select tracking targets on the watch interface rather than initiating tracking automatically. Altitude changes, such as cresting hills, can also temporarily disrupt tracking functionality.

Additionally, the drone occasionally drifts toward streets or fences when commanded to follow closely behind.

Despite minor crashes during suburban testing, the airframe proved resilient. A particularly useful inclusion is the watch's automated playback feature, which saves the final seconds of footage prior to a crash to help locate the drone easily.

Accessories and Value

Full-coverage propeller guards are bundled into the $799 set to protect against impacts, with the drone successfully bouncing off obstacles during testing. Existing A1 owners can purchase the watch and ring accessories separately, with discount options available for verified aircraft owners.

The Antigravity A1 fills a long-standing gap in the consumer market for a folding, highly portable follow-me drone that easily fits into a standard bag.

A wristwatch screen controls a drone flying right above the person’s hand.

Propeller guards can be removed easily, leaving enough room in the included carrying bag for the guards, the folded drone, and its new quick-release camera cover.
