Apple Creator Studio update adds MotionVFX to Final Cut, and AI to everywhere

Final Cut clips can finally be unlocked from the primary timeline.

Apple has updated its software suite just in time for the arrival of new hardware releases.

Final Cut Pro and MotionVFX Integration

One of the biggest additions is built-in MotionVFX tools for the Final Cut Pro app, following an acquisition earlier this year. The integration provides editors with rapid access to extensive professional video effects and content, including graphics, themes, titles and transitions, alongside specialized rotoscoping and color grading tools. The Content Hub within Final Cut Pro also contains curated stock videos, photos and backgrounds.

Apple has also improved workflows that span multiple apps in the suite, allowing users to take any image from a timeline in Final Cut Pro and open it in Pixelmator Pro for edits. Changes are applied directly to the original project without needing to reexport. Another useful addition is the ability to disconnect clips from the primary timeline in Final Cut Pro.

AI Integration Across Apps

AI features are integrated across various applications, introducing text-to-image generation and editing tools to both Final Cut Pro and Pixelmator Pro. In Logic Pro, a new assistant developed with OpenAI can edit existing projects, start new songs and generate vocal tracks from text prompts. The same chatbot can also be used in Keynote, Pages and Numbers for tasks such as animating slides or organizing data.

Additional updates include keyframe easing options in Final Cut Pro and the ability to isolate or swap out drum parts using the Stem Splitter in Logic Pro.

System Requirements and Availability

Using the assistant in Logic Pro requires a supported Mac running recent software versions. AI tools also need to be built into your compatible device to utilize the chatbot across productivity apps. Certain Final Cut Pro features require Apple silicon, and Macs running the Creator Studio version of the program must meet the necessary operating system requirements.

The updates will be available for free in November for existing subscribers. Apple Creator Studio costs $13 per month or $129 per year, with a free trial available for new subscribers. Final Cut Pro, Logic Pro and Pixelmator Pro can also be purchased individually.
