Google's Gemini-Powered Home Speaker On Sale
Google's latest smart speaker features Gemini-powered voice controls and audio performance tailored for its compact size.
Design and Audio Quality
The Google Home Speaker features a smaller footprint than the previous-generation Nest Audio, making it easier to place around the home while still delivering loud, clear 360-degree sound. It compares favorably to rival devices in clarity and volume, though older hardware retains advantages in overall sound depth and bass.
In reviews, testers noted a strong balance of sound quality and compact design. The speaker produces loud, clear audio with 360-degree sound, though alternatives in the same price tier offer differing audio profiles, such as heavier bass.
Smart Home Integration
The device includes Matter support and a built-in Thread border router for connecting various smart home accessories. It also functions as an audio output for the Google TV Streamer 4K, routing television sound through single or paired speakers.
Gemini Voice Controls
Integration with Gemini allows the speaker to handle complex, natural language requests and multiple smart home commands simultaneously. Advanced capabilities like Gemini Live require an optional $10-per-month Google Home Premium subscription.
