AI-Powered Theme Recommendations
The new tab will initially offer personalized suggestions based on a diverse range of AI-generated themes.
Netflix is introducing an artificial intelligence-driven recommendation tool to its television app to address user fatigue from endless browsing. Positioned as an experimental feature, AI Discover features a distinct red gem icon on the top navigation bar for eligible accounts.
The initial rollout focuses on theme-based curation, pairing categorized suggestions with video clips. Categories adapt to viewing contexts such as group settings, specific moods, time constraints, trending titles, and recent watch history.
Refining Your Watchlist
Users can further narrow down suggestions using specific sub-themes and refresh the generated selections on demand.
Crucially, the tool allows viewers to permanently hide specific titles from future recommendations. Users can also add shows and movies directly to their personal lists from the Discover interface.
Netflix explained that the system relies on a newly developed intelligence layer capable of real-time adaptation and continuous learning based on user feedback.
Availability
The feature is currently launching for English-language users on supported televisions in the United States, with a broader rollout planned for the coming weeks. The tool will not be accessible on kids profiles.
This addition follows a history of experimental discovery tools introduced by the platform, including previous shuffle play modes and conversational interfaces.
