The OhSnap Wallet 2 is a magnetic lever-action card wallet designed to stack seamlessly with magnetic phone stands. It brings a unique approach to smartphone accessory ecosystems.
Pulling the integrated spring-loaded lever fans out the stored cards automatically. The wallet utilizes a toolless assembly system that lets users press specific release points to swap between 3, 5, or 7-card cores designed to grip cards securely.
Modularity and Customization
Users can interchange the front or back magnetic plates to add functionality such as an ID card holder, work badge slot, elastic band for extra storage, or a money clip. Alternatively, swapping both plates for ultra-thin aluminum covers transforms it into a standalone wallet.
Mechanism and Durability
A standout engineering feature is the compliant mechanism where the plastic arms of the card-carrying core act as springs. These push a locking mechanism into the notches of each modular cover as parts slide together. Once cards are inserted, they keep the arms apart to prevent accidental openings during normal handling.
During drop tests, the wallet generally held together rather than exploding apart, though severe impacts on concrete could cause one half to pop off and spill a couple of cards, leaving a noticeable dent on the chassis.
Drawbacks and Pricing
Despite advertising claims of being impossibly thin, the wallet is only truly sleek in its 3-card variant without heavier MagSafe and MagStack plates attached.
Value and Conclusion
The 7-card configuration adds substantial weight, making a phone feel heavy by introducing an extra 127 grams. Furthermore, premium pricing for individual extras like ID covers or money clips, alongside the overall kit cost, makes it a significant investment.
