Samsung Galaxy SmartTag 3 Announced with Pet Tracking
Not only can it keep tabs on your pet's location, it can monitor their motion and sleep too.
Samsung announced its latest tracker in the Galaxy SmartTag 3. It offers longer range and new cross-platform support, but perhaps its biggest upgrade is that it can also function as a lightweight activity monitor for pets.
Design and Pricing
Starting at $30 for a single device or $100 for a pack of four, there isn't a huge change in the Galaxy SmartTag 3's exterior. It still has an IP67 rating for dust and water resistance, and Samsung says it is about 35 percent more compact and 33 percent lighter than its predecessor.

Performance and Range
The SmartTag 3 boasts improved battery life that can go up to 550 days in normal mode or up to 790 days in Power Saving mode. The tracker features longer range thanks to support for Bluetooth 6.0 Channel Sounding, allowing it to provide distance and direction guidance from up to 60 meters away. As you get closer, you can use ultra-wideband support to find items with greater precision. Samsung also added a Place Notification feature to send alerts when entering or leaving a geofenced area.
Cross-Platform Compatibility
For the first time, Samsung's tracker has cross-platform compatibility via the SmartThings app. Regardless of whether you use an iPhone or an Android device, you can use and locate items with the SmartTag 3.

Pet Activity Monitoring
For pet owners, the SmartTag 3 includes a feature that doubles as an activity monitor. While it does not measure heart rate or VO2, it records how much a pet moves, how long it has been active, and how much it sleeps. A dedicated tab in the SmartThings app displays these stats.
Availability
The Galaxy SmartTag 3 will be available in black or white starting in early November.
