Design and Availability
Sony is releasing new matching PS5 console covers alongside transparent controller variants.
Sony has announced transparent DualSense PS5 controllers that recall the transparent tech aesthetic of the late 1990s and early 2000s. The Prism Collection will launch in three distinct colorways: orange, green, and gray.
Each controller incorporates a high-gloss clear finish extending across the rear casing, giving users a clear view of the internal components. According to Sony, the design was intended to bring back iconic translucent electronics trends while matching the industrial aesthetic of the PlayStation 5.
Pricing and Release
The new gamepads are accompanied by matching console plate covers in the same three colorways. While these exterior plates do not provide visibility into the console's internal hardware, they coordinate visually with the controllers.
Preorders for the new accessories open directly through PlayStation on November 10, with customer shipments scheduled for February. The transparent DualSense controllers are priced at $85, while the matching console covers cost $75 each.
Translucent hardware has a long history within the PlayStation ecosystem, dating back to the original PlayStation console era. Subsequent hardware generations have all featured clear gamepad variants, bringing the design trend to the current PS5 hardware cycle.
