Introduction
They signal to the world that someone has fully completed a game.
Introduction
Xbox has announced Mythic Achievements, its answer to Sony's long-standing platinum trophy program for PlayStation. These are earned when folks complete all original achievements for a game, serving as a badge of honor for 100-percenting a title.
How the System Works
Achievements added later via DLC or updates do not impact Mythic status, with the company noting that the status remains secure once earned. They are also retroactive, meaning players will receive Mythic Achievements for games fully completed in the past, with support extending back to Xbox 360 titles.

Profile Integration and Availability
This data is available through the new Gaming tab in profiles, which provides various milestones and heroic frames for each Mythic Achievement. Users can view friends' gaming tabs to check completion progress, and a progress bar sits atop each game's achievement list.
Microsoft gaming consoles have long featured an achievements system, but this introduces a new tiered component to the platform.
The program is currently available exclusively to Xbox Insiders, a platform allowing users to test unreleased system updates and features before a public rollout.
The company is also beta-testing a service that creates digital versions of physical games and experimenting with a free, ad-supported cloud gaming platform.
