Demo Easter Eggs
The developers of Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse are incorporating nods to classic fighting games, as fans have spotted unmistakable references in the game's demo.
Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse released a free demo on October 1, 2026, giving players a preview of combat. Players control Rose Belmont as she navigates the ruined streets of 1500s Paris using a sword and her mother’s magical tarot cards.
The Cestus Weapon
The demo includes secret areas to uncover, including one that yields a pair of brass knuckle-style MMA gloves called Cestus. The weapon increases damage to enemies with consecutive hits, encouraging an aggressive playstyle.
After Rose finishes an attack using the Cestus, she strikes a pose for a few seconds. These distinct animations closely resemble the fighting stances of iconic characters from various fighting games.
Players compiled these animations to show Rose settling into idle poses referencing Ryu, Chun-Li, Oro, Sagat, Mai Shiranui, Akuma, and Spider-Man from Marvel vs Capcom 2. Other fans noted that the air-to-air combo mimics classic fireball attacks.
Series Tradition
The Castlevania franchise has a history of referencing fighting games, with Symphony of the Night featuring spell inputs similar to special fighting game moves and the Fist of Tulkas weapon allowing players to throw projectile attacks.
I told you, Castlevania LOVES fighting games 🔥 And the tradition of calling back to them continues with Belmont's Curse! So I made a lil edit showcasing how the Demo's secret weapon, Cestus, homages idle poses for many of it's iconic characters.MUCH more coming stay tuned 😈 https://t.co/7UVd7OFSTQ
