Navigating Difficult Combat
Control Resonant isn’t an easy game. At any given moment while exploring vast open areas where you’re sometimes leaping from wall to wall to ceiling, you may be surrounded by swarms of otherworldly enemies trying to crush you into the ground. It can be a lot, especially when enemies sometimes take a long time to take down. Frequent deaths are common, but the game's generous assist mode allows players to tweak settings and maintain momentum through the strange world.
Control Resonant gets tough, but gives you the tools to deal with it
Remedy’s Control sequel has a generous assist mode that lets you tweak the difficulty whenever you want.
Customizing the Experience
The assist mode is accessible from Control Resonant’s pause menu. Players can adjust parameters such as incoming and outgoing damage, dodge windows, or enable invincibility and one-hit kills. Presets are also available for those who prefer traditional difficulty options over individual sliders. The game encourages playing with assist mode disabled, but imposes no penalties or reload requirements for enabling it.

Early in the game, limited combat abilities and passive skills can make encounters punishing. Small adjustments via assist mode provide a minor power boost without removing the challenge entirely. As character leveling progresses and combat becomes more manageable, assist mode can be disabled to restore the original difficulty curve.
Bypassing Frustration
Toggling assist mode dynamically helps maintain pacing during dense enemy encounters and sprawling boss fights. Rather than hitting a progress wall, players can incrementally adjust settings upon death to preserve the spectacle of major encounters while reducing repetitive failure.
Exploring Side Content
Assist mode is particularly useful for tackling sprawling maps filled with side quests and collectibles. Activating modifiers like immortality and one-hit kills allows players to clear out repetitive enemy spawns quickly and focus on narrative progression, returning to standard settings for major boss encounters.
Addressing Game Bloat
Control Resonant features numerous open-world activities and wandering enemies that can occasionally disrupt pacing. Because the combat system relies on significant difficulty spikes rather than deep mechanical mastery, the built-in assist mode functions as a valuable tool for tailoring the experience and focusing on the game's atmospheric set-pieces.
