Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 Celebrates a Decade

Bandai Namco has revealed a 10th anniversary update for Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 as fans await the fighting game series' third installment.

The publisher detailed the contents set to drop in the coming days on its website. Split between two major releases – one October 27, the other October 30 – all the new goodies will be available for anyone who has picked up Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, or Xbox Series X/S since it first launched October 25, 2016.

The first free update is said to bring login bonus rewards, special costumes, and an update for the Future Saga Chapter 4 DLC's Gallery of Time when it launches Tuesday. A true birthday celebration, called "Final Festival of Universes," will follow with hard-to-find items, as well as unlocks for Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3 rewards, come Friday.

During the Final Festival of Universes, players will be able to raise their camaraderie level with characters like Trunks, The Supreme Kai of Time, or Fu, unlocking special illustrations. Additionally, hard-to-obtain items will return, and players can earn 25 times more Star Coins than usual, making it easier to exchange them for rewards.

Today marks 10 years since Bandai Namco launched its Dragon Ball action RPG follow-up. The Final Festival of Universes appears to be the publisher's sendoff for the sequel, aligning with the impending release of the next game.

Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3: What We Know So Far

Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3 was re-revealed for PC and consoles in April of this year, promising to immerse players in West City in Age 1000. Bandai Namco described the game as combining an epic story-driven RPG experience that will take Dragon Ball fans on an unforgettable, action-packed journey into this new universe and its cast of characters.

Fans had hoped for a quicker release after Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3 was initially revealed with a broad 2027 date. However, recent updates indicate a further delay, pushing the release back by another year. Producer Masayuki Hirano attributed this to a desire to fully realize ambitions for both the launch experience and post-launch content support.

The Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 festivities should help the more impatient fans for at least a little while longer. In the meantime, you can read IGN's original 7.5/10 review for the sequel, where we called it "an ambitious, if rough-edged experience, with deceptively deep RPG and brawling elements."
