Experience Overview
Immersive Gamebox is teaming up with Netflix to bring fans into the world of KPop Demon Hunters. A new interactive gaming experience based on the animated streaming hit will launch across select U.S. locations in January 2027.
According to a press release, the experience will have players move, react, and work together through a series of interactive games featuring 3D motion tracking, projection mapping, touch-sensitive walls and spatial audio. The experience avoids heavy VR goggles, instead using lightweight motion-tracking headsets.
Gameplay Details
Before getting into actual gameplay, players will get to create their own Superfan avatar in the style of the animated movie. Then, HUNTR/X will guide participants on a quest to protect the Honmoon. The experience will feature familiar locations, moments, and characters from the movie while requiring participants to work together on minigames and activities.
The full KPop Demon Hunters experience is designed for two to six players with an estimated run time of 60 minutes. Tickets will be available in December, with early access options for the waitlist.
Previous Collaborations
Immersive Gamebox launched in London before opening its first U.S. location in 2020. The company has previously worked with Netflix on its Squid Game and Floor Is Lava experiences, currently hosting over 29 experiences at 35 venues.
KPop Demon Hunters perfectly captures what we do best: transforming the world’s most exciting stories into shared experiences that friends and families can play together, said Lisa Paton, CEO of Immersive Gamebox. Music, movement, and the collective energy of the fans are such a huge part of this film, and we can’t wait for fans to join the action and become part of the story.
Additional Experiences
This isn’t fans’ only opportunity to help Huntr/x protect the Honmoon. Netflix will be hosting its own KPop Demon Hunters: The Immersive Experience at two Netflix House locations this November. The Netflix experience will make use of 3D technology while also featuring live actors, multiple sets, and themed food and drinks.
Both immersive experiences will stick to the movie's original Honmoon story, though reports suggest a sequel may not release until at least 2029. Netflix has already agreed to give KPop Demon Hunters 2 a full theatrical release.
