Scent Trail Toggle Added
In the latest patch for Marvel’s Wolverine, Insomniac has enabled the option for players to choose whether or not they want to use the game’s visible scent trails by making it a togglable hint option mapped to a button on their controller.
The update dropped on October 6 following complaints from players who felt the scent trails offered too much guidance and limited independent exploration.
Insomniac explained that the decision to make the scent trails optional was a direct result of community feedback. Players can now toggle them on or off using the Hint button, which is mapped to R3 on the PlayStation 5 controller.
This update also applies to other features like the visibility of audio cues and nightmare roots, allowing players to navigate the environment and locate areas independently.
With recent updates, players have more control over the visibility of scents, audio cues, and nightmare roots based on ongoing community feedback.
Bug Fixes and Stability
Also included in the patch were fixes for additional community-reported issues related to crashes and bugs.
This release follows a similar change made in late September, which gave players the option of turning off scents for whiskey bottle trails, material crate audio clues, and nightmare door roots. Prior to that, developers toned down the overall opacity of the scent trails to make the visuals less intrusive.
Insomniac has stated that it remains actively engaged with the player community and is gathering feedback to further refine the gameplay experience.
Elements such as scent trails and navigation indicators have been among the most discussed features by players since the game's launch.
Actor Liam McIntyre addressed discussions surrounding character design, noting that he was unphased by online commentary due to his previous experience in major television roles.
