Gameplay and Mechanics
The Conjuring: Unspoken is an interactive paranormal investigation experience designed for the living room. Players shape the narrative by selecting dialogue options. Using a mobile phone as a controller, players explore the historic Red Lion Inn in England to uncover clues. Taking on the role of demonologist Francesca Noakes, players utilize an electromagnetic field reader, an infrared camera, and a spirit box. The main screen displays the virtual environment, while the mobile device acts as the tool interface, allowing users to find thermal anomalies and cold spots indicating supernatural entities.
According to Netflix, prior familiarity with the Conjuring film franchise is not required to enjoy the game, though familiar characters appear and provide additional context for existing fans.
Development Background
The title was created by Supermassive Games, the studio recognized for narrative horror games such as The Quarry and Until Dawn.
