Cyberpunk 2077 is heading to the big screen. Reports indicate that CD Projekt Red’s popular sci-fi video game franchise is being adapted into a live-action film by Paramount Pictures. Specific details regarding a premiere date have not yet been announced. Lorenzo di Bonaventura, known for producing the Transformers films, will serve as a producer on the movie.

CD Projekt Red’s hit sci-fi franchise is being adapted into a movie, but there’s no word yet on when it might be released.

“We’re excited about Paramount as a future partner who shares our creative ambitions for the Cyberpunk franchise,” says CD Projekt Red joint-CEO Michał Nowakowski. “We look forward to sharing more details at the appropriate time.”

Franchise Growth and Sequel

Despite its rocky 2020 launch, Cyberpunk 2077 has gone on to become a huge success for CD Projekt Red, with the company recently announcing that the game has surpassed more than 40 million copies sold. The franchise has also been adapted into a hit Netflix anime, and a second season of that show is debuting later this month. A sequel to Cyberpunk 2077, which CD Projekt Red is calling “Cyberpunk 2,” is in development as well, with the studio reporting recently that the game has 184 people working on it.

Broader Industry Slate

The news of the Cyberpunk 2077 movie arrives alongside other studio developments. Paramount is also working on a Call of Duty film for 2028 and a Street Fighter movie scheduled for October 16th.
