Popularity Rankings

Publisher Focus Entertainment has detailed the most popular PvE Operations classes in Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 to coincide with the game's two-year anniversary.

Data shared by the publisher indicates that the Tactical class was chosen 44.4 million times over the past year, making it the top pick for PvE missions. It leads a lineup that includes Bulwark, Assault, Heavy, Vanguard, and Techmarine.

The Sniper class was initially left off the primary graphic released by the publisher, prompting questions about its placement.

Clarification from the development team revealed that the initial showcase focused on the top six classes, with the Sniper sitting just behind the Techmarine with 20 million selections.

Class Viability

While capable of dealing massive single-target damage, the Sniper requires a more specialized playstyle compared to the direct combat approach favored by most players in the game.

The Tactical class's high usage is driven by powerful equipment options such as melta weapons and the Pyreblaster, alongside the Auspex Scan ability, which reveals and debuffs enemies significantly on higher difficulties.

Despite usage discrepancies, the game maintains general viability across its roster for most difficulty tiers.

Most-played classes in Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2:

Tactical: 44.4 million times picked

Bulwark: 40.1 million times picked

Assault: 33.3 million times picked

Heavy: 30.4 million times picked

Vanguard: 27.4 million times picked

Techmarine: 22.3 million times picked

Sniper: 20 million times picked

Experimenting with different loadouts and special abilities remains a core component of the experience.

Future Updates

The roster will expand further as part of the Year 3 roadmap, which schedules the addition of the Apothecary class in early 2027.

In addition to class metrics, developer Saber Interactive has acknowledged balance concerns regarding Chaos enemies compared to Tyranids, with adjustments planned for future patches.
