Steam Milestone

The Witcher 3 Remastered has already beaten its previous record for concurrent players on Steam just hours after its release.

Before the remaster arrived, Steam's previous player peak for the 11-year-old title occurred in January 2020 following the debut of the Witcher television series. At that time, 103,329 people played simultaneously on Valve's platform. The remaster pushed that figure to a new peak of 114,696 players, representing a significant increase from the previous month's baseline. This metric accounts exclusively for Steam users, excluding players on platforms such as GOG and consoles including the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and S, and Nintendo Switch systems.

Performance and Growth

Player counts are expected to climb further as the week progresses toward the weekend. Because the new version serves as a free upgrade for existing owners, the barrier to entry remains low for compatible hardware. Initial launch friction involving AMD graphics cards was resolved via a dedicated graphics driver update.

The remaster introduces numerous upgrades, ranging from graphical enhancements to refined animation work for Roach. Advanced rendering features such as path tracing are also supported, though they require high-end PC hardware to run effectively.
