Gemini on CarPlay
After introducing its Gemini AI assistant to Android Auto last year, Google is now bringing it to Apple CarPlay users. The conversational Gemini in navigation is available today for US drivers, with rollout happening globally.

CarPlay users in the US can now use Gemini to chat with Google Maps.
Features and Activation
It has taken almost 12 months for Google to bring this to CarPlay users, allowing them to talk to the voice assistant in Google Maps for hands-free help while driving. That includes asking multi-step questions, such as recommendations on places to visit and then prompting it to direct you there while avoiding toll roads. Users can activate the feature by tapping the Gemini icon in Google Maps on their car infotainment display.
Traffic and Updates
Google describes this CarPlay support update as a conversational way to report traffic disruptions and find information about stops and places on the go. There is no mention of Personal Intelligence features for Gemini in CarPlay yet, which typically enable the voice assistant to access user information from Google apps.
