Security Fix Implementation

Meta has re-enabled Muse sharing after security researchers reported that public conversation links could be easily discovered.

Meta turns Muse sharing back on

Meta has assigned new URLs to shared Muse artifacts following reports that the previous public links were too easy to find.

Research Findings and Pause

Researchers at Claroc reported that web addresses for shared conversations from Muse were named after conversation titles and written into public DNS. Meta subsequently paused the sharing feature.

Official Response

Meta’s David Singleton confirmed that the underlying issue has been resolved and sharing is operational again. Singleton clarified that the problem affected URLs for shared Muse artifacts, such as embedded documents and images, rather than standard chat sharing.

Artifacts shared prior to the fix have been assigned new URLs. Users attempting to visit old links will encounter a prompt directing them to obtain the updated link from the creator.
