Net income reached $36.6 billion, representing a 32% increase on a GAAP basis compared to the previous year.

Cloud and AI Growth

The financial results were driven primarily by the Microsoft Cloud division, which generated $63.9 billion in revenue, up 30% year-over-year.

Microsoft organizes its reporting into Agents and Infra alongside Devices and Consumer segments. The Devices and Consumer division saw revenue fall 3% to $15.5 billion, with Windows OEM and device hardware revenues declining by 22%.

While traditional enterprise software contributed significantly—with Microsoft 365 accounting for nearly $28 billion—Azure generated the largest share at $33.2 billion, supporting both standard SaaS applications and advanced workloads.

Infrastructure and Capital Expenditure

Artificial intelligence operations contributed substantially to the growth, with Microsoft reporting $10 billion in revenue derived from OpenAI. Major labs including OpenAI and Anthropic utilize Azure infrastructure. Microsoft also reported that its commercial remaining performance obligations increased by 73% to $677 billion, reflecting committed future enterprise contracts.

To support these ongoing commitments, capital expenditures reached a new high of $45.2 billion for the quarter.
