Custom Gold Chassis
A special edition mini PC featuring a pure 24-carat gold passive chassis has been ordered for approximately $1.7 million. Based on the compact Kubb Fanless PC design measuring roughly 5 inches, the opulent gold enclosure increases the system weight from its standard 4.6 pounds to 28.7 pounds (13kg). Gold provides significantly better thermal conductivity compared to aluminum, contributing to faster heat transfer.

The custom gold chassis functions as a passive cooling system, with thermal conductivity estimated to be 30% to 50% faster than aluminum. While this aids thermal performance for the internal processor, the substantial increase in weight severely impacts portability and massively drives up the cost.
We looked up the thermal conductivity of aluminum and gold, as well as some other common materials. The chart below could be useful for your own passive computing projects.
