Introduction
As the portable monitor category matures, a number of new players have entered the market to claim their share of the pie. UPERFECT is one such company, and it is coming out of the gate with the GR14BU.
The GR14BU is a 14-inch portable monitor that moves beyond standard 60 Hz 1080p IPS panels. It features an OLED panel with a dense 2880 × 1800 (3K) resolution and a 120 Hz maximum refresh rate, alongside touch input support for Windows 11.
On paper, it is a promising product with a street price under $300. While that is a premium over standard IPS alternatives, the specifications suggest a high-end experience.
Design of the UPERFECT GR14BU
At first glance, the GR14BU impresses with its black aluminum frame wrapping around the 14-inch panel. The sleek design is enhanced by the glossy glass typical of OLED panels.
However, the integrated kickstand is tiny and mounted in the center of the back panel, restricting the monitor to landscape mode only. The placement of the USB-C and HDMI ports on the right, combined with the OSD buttons on the left, further prevents portrait orientation.

The OSD buttons feel cheap and wobble, which is disappointing for a device at this price point. The five buttons handle Power, OSD, Up, Down, and Back functions.
UPERFECT includes a comprehensive set of cables and adapters, including two USB-C-to-USB-C cables, a micro-HDMI to HDMI cable, and necessary 180-degree adapters.

Note that when connected via a single USB-C cable, the monitor is locked at 20 percent brightness. Using the included USB-C wall adapter is required to reach maximum brightness levels.
OSD on the UPERFECT GR14BU
The OSD is functional but basic. Dedicated buttons allow for quick adjustments to volume and brightness, while the main OSD menu provides access to deeper picture and color settings.
Navigation is handled via the Up, Down, and OSD buttons, with a Back button to retreat through the menu hierarchy.
Display Performance on the UPERFECT GR14BU
The 14-inch 2880 x 1600 panel offers a 16:10 aspect ratio and a 120 Hz refresh rate, providing a fluid experience for both productivity and gaming.
While UPERFECT claims 500 nits of brightness, we measured 368.6 nits. This performance is consistent with peers like the Asus ZenScreen OLED MQ16AH and ViewSonic ColorPro VP16-OLED.
Color performance is strong, with 132.2 percent coverage of the DCI-P3 color space and 186.6 percent sRGB coverage.

In real-world use, the panel is bright enough for well-lit environments. OLED black levels are excellent, providing a high-contrast viewing experience for media.
The inability to use the monitor in portrait mode remains a significant drawback for productivity users who prefer vertical screen space.
Gaming performance at 120 Hz is generally smooth, though the lack of Adaptive-Sync (FreeSync or G-Sync) can lead to screen tearing during intense action sequences.
The integrated speakers are underwhelming, suffering from distortion at higher volumes and a lack of bass. External audio solutions are recommended.
Bottom Line
The UPERFECT GR14BU delivers a high-quality 3K OLED panel and a 120 Hz refresh rate, making it a compelling option for those who prioritize display specs.
However, the lack of portrait orientation, absence of Adaptive-Sync, and poor build quality of the OSD buttons are notable trade-offs.
At its current price, the GR14BU offers significant value, outperforming many competitors in color accuracy and resolution while remaining highly affordable.
