A Closer Look at the $6,000 Surface RTX Spark Dev Box
It's covered in 1,000 air vents, which makes it look a bit like an oversized Lego brick.
Alongside its Windows hardware announcements, Microsoft showcased the $6,000 Surface RTX Spark Dev Box, a powerful desktop PC optimized for AI development.
Microsoft previously offered a glimpse of the device, but hands-on impressions provide a better idea of its physical footprint.
The machine features a thin yet long chassis that sits on an elevated base, taking up a sizable desk footprint. It is surprisingly heavy, weighing at least 5 to 6 pounds.
Hardware and Specifications
Comparable to Apple's Mac Studio in concept, the Surface RTX Spark Dev Box packs a 6,144-core GPU, 128GB of memory, and a 2TB SSD, with extensive ventilation designed to manage heat under heavy workloads.
Port Selection
The back panel includes three USB-C ports, an HDMI port, a headphone jack, an Ethernet port, and a USB-A port, though it lacks a built-in card slot.
The Surface RTX Spark Dev Box is available for pre-order for $5,999.99.
