It's been rumored for years that Apple has been working on a smart display to rival products like Amazon's Echo Show and Google's Nest Hub. Reports indicate that Apple previously delayed the device until its Siri AI features were ready.

HomePad and Features

The HomePad is expected to feature a seven-inch display, a new operating system called homeOS, and a dashboard resembling the StandBy mode on iPhones. Rumors suggest it will use face and voice recognition to personalize content. In addition to smart home controls, it is believed to support FaceTime calls, video and music streaming, and intercom communication.

Hardware Updates

As for the new Apple TV and HomePod mini, those devices are likely receiving specification upgrades to support Siri AI. Recent code suggests the revamped speaker may also gain a display with an Apple Watch-style interface.

October is shaping up to be a big month for Apple. Not only does the company have this latest event on deck, it's set to release the iPhone Duo, its first foldable phone, in a couple of weeks.
