Apple refreshes the Apple TV 4K for Siri AI

New microphones, a new remote, and the latest Siri AI are now integrated into Apple’s updated streaming box.

Key Enhancements

As part of Apple's ongoing smart home initiative, the company has unveiled an updated version of the Apple TV 4K, now featuring enhanced Siri AI support. This streaming device introduces several new functionalities beyond just the voice assistant. Notable upgrades include improvements to the remote and significant voice and audio enhancements designed to elevate the overall user experience.

Siri AI Integration

The new Apple TV 4K has been significantly re-engineered for Siri AI. While primarily used for content discovery, Siri can also answer general questions directly on screen. Responses are displayed discreetly in the corner of your TV, ensuring they don't obstruct your viewing. The device now includes far-field microphones, enabling a fully hands-free Siri experience without needing the remote. It also integrates with your iPhone, allowing commands like "Play that show Jeff texted me about," for seamless content access.

Improved Remote Features

The updated remote now includes a convenient feature: you can ask Siri to locate it, and the accessory will emit a sound. This functionality is particularly useful for quickly finding a misplaced remote. Additionally, the remote remains trackable using Apple's Find My network.

Enhanced Audio with HomePods

For audio, the Apple TV 4K now supports a surround sound setup utilizing four HomePod speakers. Previously, only two HomePods could be used as a stereo pair. Now, users with either second-generation HomePods or HomePod mini 2s, or a combination of both, can configure a quartet for a more immersive living room audio experience.

Pricing and Availability

The Apple TV 4K is priced at $299, representing a $100 increase over the previous version's starting price, even after a recent price adjustment. It is available for pre-order starting today and will be released in stores on November 13.
