We don't have too many details just yet.
Adaptation Announcement
The era of video game adaptations continues. Chernin Entertainment just inked a deal to adapt both Arc Raiders and The Finals as TV and film projects, according to a report by Variety. Embark Studios, who published both games, will also be involved in some capacity.
Project Details and Background
Corporate press releases mention plans for growing both franchises and offering integrated transmedia experiences. The president of Chernin stated that these are ambitious global IPs with potential across film and television.
Project Details and Background
Arc Raiders is a third-person extraction shooter and The Finals is a free-to-play first-person shooter set inside of a game show. This flexibility allows filmmakers room for creative storytelling while maintaining the core world-building.
Chernin's recent production credits include Backrooms for theaters and The Madness for Netflix, alongside previous releases such as Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes and the Fear Street trilogy.
This announcement joins a growing wave of video game adaptations slated for theaters and streaming services over the coming years.
