The Cricut StickerPix Print and Print + Cut introduce dedicated sticker-making technology directly to home crafters.
Cricut is expanding its lineup of crafting devices with the introduction of the Cricut StickerPix Print and StickerPix Print + Cut. These new machines make it easy to print custom stickers and, in the case of the Print + Cut model, combine the company's signature cutting technology with an integrated printer for the first time.
Sizes and Capabilities
The Cricut StickerPix Print is the smaller of the two devices at 7.8 by 5 by 3.5 inches, supporting 4 by 6-inch photo paper or pre-cut sticker sheets. The larger StickerPix Print + Cut measures 8 by 11.3 by 4.1 inches and accommodates 4 by 7-inch sticker sheets alongside 4 by 6-inch photo paper. Because the latter machine features cutting capabilities, users are not restricted to predetermined shapes found on standard pre-cut sheets.
Technology and Materials
Both variants utilize dye-sublimation to transfer dye directly onto printing substrates using heat. They subsequently apply a protective laminate layer to render prints resistant to water, scratches, and fading. While traditional Cricut setups require a separate inkjet printer and special laminate sheets, the StickerPix series integrates these processes into a single footprint.
Software and Limitations
Unlike some of Cricut's advanced standalone cutters, both StickerPix models are limited to producing kiss-cut stickers that remain attached to a single backing sheet rather than fully die-cut individual pieces. Operation requires the Cricut Design Space application on a mobile device or computer, which may encourage utilization of the optional Cricut Access subscription for expanded templates.
Pricing and Availability
The Cricut StickerPix Print and Print + Cut are available now with retail prices starting at $169 and $299, respectively. Each package includes an initial bundle of sticker sheets, photo paper, and an ink cartridge.
