God of War Laufey is delayed until May 20
Santa Monica Studio will use the extra time to push the game to its fullest potential.
One of PlayStation's biggest first-party games of 2027 will be arriving later than expected as Santa Monica Studio has delayed God of War Laufey by three months. The PS5 exclusive was originally supposed to arrive on February 16 and it's now scheduled for May 20.
Studio Statement
Since the reveal of God of War Laufey in June, the team has been grateful for the excitement surrounding Faye's journey. The studio noted that the extra time will allow them to put finishing touches on the experience for fans.
The delay provides the title with breathing room away from a crowded release schedule early in the year, which includes Sony's Until Dawn 2 in January and MLB The Show in March.
Plot Details
In God of War Laufey, players control Faye, whose death sets the events of the 2018 game in motion. Faye reawakens in the afterlife to undertake an adventure running parallel to the exploits of Kratos and Atreus.
