No Man's Sky is coming to iPhone and iPad as the App Store celebrates Indie Games Week

Sifu, Vampire Crawlers, Dome Keeper and Little Kitty, Big City are also hitting iOS.

Apple has kicked off an event on the App Store. As part of the platform's Indie Games Week, some well-known titles are hitting iPhones and iPads, some of which are available now. Arguably the biggest name among the bunch is No Man's Sky.

After Hello Games brought No Man's Sky to Mac in 2023, the team explored getting the game running on an iPhone, according to studio co-founder Sean Murray. While the mobile version includes all of the space exploration and survival game's updates from the last decade, it launches with the same initial restrictions as the Nintendo Switch port, meaning multiplayer and settlements are not available on iOS or iPadOS at the outset. Hello Games may support iOS similarly based on player feedback and numbers.

The iOS port features rebuilt touch controls, TV casting support, controller inputs, and mouse and keyboard support on iPad. No Man's Sky takes up less than 5GB of storage on iPhone and iPad, and is compatible with iPhone 11 and third-generation iPad Air models and above.

Pre-orders for No Man's Sky on iPhone and iPad open today ahead of its October 28 release, and the title will be free to try.

More Indie Titles Arriving on iOS

Among the other indies coming to iPhone and iPad is Sifu, Sloclap's action beat-'em-up where characters age with each death. The iOS version features a reworked camera system and touch controls.

Other additions include Vampire Crawlers, a strategic card-based take on Vampire Survivors, and Dome Keeper, a roguelite combining mining and tower defense.

Additional titles highlighted during Indie Games Week include Yes, Your Grace 2: Snowfall, strategy game 9 Kings, and the adventure game Little Kitty, Big City, all of which are available for iPhone and iPad now.

"Indie games are constantly pushing the boundaries of creativity to deliver unique gameplay experiences to Apple users," said Carson Oliver, Apple's head of App Store Worldwide.

The showcase highlights a broad selection of independent developers gaining a global stage through the App Store.
