Introduction

Tuesday Labs, a New York City-based robotics studio, has opened reservations for Voxel, a bipedal robot designed to learn and manage routine tasks around the home. Equipped with a pair of articulated arms and an advanced vision system, Voxel is positioned as a droid butler. Reservations require a $200 deposit, with full pricing expected to reach approximately $20,000 when the robot ships in 2028.

Limited reservations for the Voxel Series-1 are currently open, though the hardware is not scheduled to ship until 2028.

Design and Hardware

The available preorder model, the Voxel Series-1, features a primarily humanoid silhouette. It relies on a pair of articulated arms featuring seven degrees of freedom and simple grippers rather than highly dexterous multi-fingered hands.

The arms extend from the top of the torso, which functions as both body and head. It includes a small mouth, a set of animated pixelated eyes positioned lower near the waist, and hidden stereo RGB cameras alongside a wide-field camera designed to monitor an entire room.

Locomotion and Capabilities

For mobility, the Series-1 utilizes two Z-shaped legs with inverse-bending knees. This configuration allows the robot to crouch for stability and adjust its height dynamically while operating near kitchen counters, tables, and shelves.

While detailed hardware specifications are available, specific operational capabilities remain broader. The robot is intended to handle autonomous tasks such as decluttering, watering plants, retrieving reading materials, and locating misplaced items like a TV remote through natural interaction. Complex duties like cooking or childcare are not supported at launch.
