Overview and Release
CD Projekt has released an official list of all the improvements made for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Remastered.
The developer issued media with the updated list, which breaks the improvements down into four categories: visual, combat, quality of life, and miscellaneous. These arrive ahead of the game launch on September 29.
Official global release times and update download sizes have also been provided to help players prepare for the rollout.
CD Projekt noted that while the game has received numerous updates over the years—including a previous next-gen console patch—Remastered introduces the most extensive set of changes yet applied to the title at once.
The changes impact exploration, combat mechanics, and the skill tree, which has been entirely rebuilt to accommodate both new players and returning veterans.
Visual and Technical Upgrades
VISUAL IMPROVEMENTS
The game world features increased detail levels across environments, supported by modernized lighting systems designed to enhance every location.
Upgraded Visuals and Performance introduce better environment, NPC, and monster textures, enhanced foliage, and reworked rendering with ray tracing.
Path Tracing is included as a PC exclusive feature to maximize graphical fidelity.
PlayStation 5 Pro support utilizes PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR) to target 60 frames per second with ray tracing active.
Combat System Overhaul
COMBAT IMPROVEMENTS
Combat mechanics have been adjusted for a more responsive feel, accompanied by a redesigned skill tree intended to alter character progression.
The reimagined skill system brings new abilities and deeper flexibility to different playstyles.
Revamped animations, new finishers, and an adaptive camera contribute to more fluid action sequences.
All five witcher signs—Aard, Igni, Yrden, Quen, and Axii—receive updated visual effects.
Enemy behavior enhancements make routine encounters with creatures like wolves and drowners more reactive.
Quality of Life and Miscellaneous Features
QUALITY OF LIFE IMPROVEMENTS
Movement animations and exploration systems have been revised to improve overall immersion.
New traversal animations for Geralt and Roach aim to make movement feel more dynamic.
Witcher senses have been reworked to highlight new clues only when focusing on specific elements.
The user interface features a streamlined main menu alongside clearer quest and tutorial notifications.
Transmogrification allows players to change the appearance of weapons and armor without altering their underlying stats.
MISCELLANEOUS IMPROVEMENTS
Additional updates expand the game's feature set beyond core visuals and combat.
An expanded photo mode includes new poses, camera controls, frames, filters, and models.
Mod.io integration brings cross-platform mod support for custom content such as quests, weapons, and balance changes.
Bard’s Ballad is introduced as an accessibility feature to assist players with cognitive limitations by adjusting selected mechanics like automatic self-healing.
Platform Specifics
As for the Nintendo Switch 2 version, CD Projekt pointed to motion controls, which let players cast witcher Signs, fire the crossbow, throw bombs, drink potions, and speed up or stop Roach. Gyro aiming "offers greater precision in combat," while mouse mode gives players another control option. The touchscreen can be used to navigate the map or game menus, and play Gwent.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Remastered launches as a free update on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.
