Valve is introducing a major new feature for Steam achievements called “achievement sets” that lets developers list different groups of achievements for a base game and DLCs.

What are Achievement Sets?

Developers with games on Steam can split achievements from a base game and its DLC into sets with their own progress bars.

In games that support sets, players still unlock achievements by playing the game as usual. However, when browsing unlocked achievements, Steam will organize the list into developer-created sets, making it simpler to view completed achievements and find related ones to unlock next. Achievement sets include their own progress bars, and completing a set awards a “set complete” trophy visible on a player's profile.

Seasonal and Temporary Achievements

Steam will also support seasonal achievement sets that developers can archive. Valve suggests that games can leverage the temporary nature of these sets for season-based content or time-limited holiday achievements.
