A New Way to Consume Energy

A Japanese news show has highlighted a unique product: drinkable Street Fighter 6 trading cards. Each card contains 12ml of an energy-boosting liquid and features artwork from Capcom’s fighting game roster.

To consume the product, users fold the card in half to access the liquid inside. The Energy Arts collection includes designs for characters such as Ryu, E. Honda, Dhalsim, Jamie, and Vega.

The product was featured in a ranking of potential hit products for 2027, where it placed fifth. The cards are part of a collaboration between the manufacturer and Capcom.

The news segment highlighted the cards alongside other emerging Japanese consumer trends, predicting significant popularity for the concept by 2027.

Targeting Esports Performance

First announced earlier this year, the Energy Arts line consists of 24 collectible cards. The manufacturer describes the product as a method to achieve "smart replenishment" and challenge conventional drinking habits.

The product was developed with esports players in mind, aiming to provide sustenance and energy between rounds without requiring the time commitment of drinking a full bottle of water.

The company notes that for activities requiring high concentration—such as gaming, studying, or driving—the act of drinking can be an unwanted interruption. These cards are intended to minimize that disruption.

The formula utilizes fast-acting amino acids rather than traditional caffeine. The small volume of liquid is also intended to prevent the need for frequent bathroom breaks during intense sessions.

The cards have a shelf life of 18 months. Collectors face a unique dilemma regarding how to preserve the cards as memorabilia without compromising the seal or bending the material.
