A Unique Petting System

Rebel Wolves truly delivered something remarkable with The Blood of Dawnwalker, their vampire RPG that explores the blurred line between monster and human. The experience is set to improve further with the upcoming directional animal petting feature.

Much like Kingdom Come: Deliverance, Dawnwalker's combat system relies on directional inputs for attacking and defending from various angles. Update 1.1, scheduled for release next week, will extend this system to allow players to interactively pet in-game animals.

The studio playfully posed the question, “What happens when you merge a directional combat system with the ability to pet dogs and cats?” Their answer: “Directional. Animal. Petting.”

New Items and Accessibility

The update also introduces a new consumable item, the Draught of Mind Rebirth. Consuming this item will enable players to respec all their upgrade points, offering the flexibility to experiment with different character builds without restarting the game.

Additionally, the game will feature an even easier difficulty mode for those who found the directional combat challenging, alongside options for larger font sizes for subtitles, enhancing overall accessibility.

Visuals and Content Restorations

Visual enhancements are also part of the update, including improvements to frame generation, better animations, refined camera movement, enhanced lock-on and targeting, and smoother traversal. Notably, the Japanese version of the game will see the reintroduction of all blood and gore, a crucial element for a game centered around a clan of human-sized leeches.

Over a Thousand Improvements

Rebel Wolves confirmed that The Blood of Dawnwalker's update 1.1 encompasses over 1,100 other improvements. This extensive list highlights a significant level of dedication from the developers, which isn't surprising given that the team, composed of former The Witcher developers, views the game as the foundation for an expansive RPG series.

Future of the Series

The Dawnwalker team has already hinted at the series' future direction, with a CGI trailer depicting the protagonist, Coen, in the present day. The game's success, having sold over 1 million copies in its first two days, strongly suggests that a sequel is likely. Whether this next installment will immediately transport Coen to the present or explore another historical period, akin to Assassin’s Creed, remains to be seen.
