Google’s Pixel phones continue to introduce practical artificial intelligence tools, with a new Gemini Intelligence feature coming to Pixel 11 devices designed to handle phone tasks.
Google is taking things a step further by allowing Pixel 11 phones to place phone calls on your behalf. Call For Me, an early experimental feature, will handle everything from appointment bookings to general inquiries without requiring users to dial digits or wait on hold.
Beyond avoiding routine phone interactions, the primary advantage of the tool is saving time during administrative tasks.
Handling Routine Calls
Based on details shared by Google, this capability is designed to manage routine business calls, including checking product inventory availability, rescheduling appointments, or booking dinner reservations, all initiated through the Gemini app by stating the objective.
The effectiveness of the feature depends on how well Gemini manages back-and-forth conversations when unexpected questions arise, such as specific party sizes for restaurant bookings.
Gemini’s conversational capabilities will show whether it can navigate nuanced requests or take mid-call direction beyond the initial prompt. The application provides a live transcript of the active call, allowing users to chime in or take over the conversation directly.
Availability
The early preview is rolling out exclusively in the U.S. for Gemini paid subscribers who own a Pixel 11 and participate in the Phone by Google Public Beta. Google may eventually expand support to other Android devices.
