Battery Leak Reveals S27 Details
The next major smartphone release on the horizon is the Samsung Galaxy S27 series, and a recent leak has revealed what battery capacities to expect from two of the upcoming models.
Rumors indicate Samsung will introduce a new Galaxy S27 Pro model sitting between the Plus and Ultra versions. This new battery leak covers both the mysterious Pro and the flagship Galaxy S27 Ultra.
Two batteries have appeared on the Safety Korea database alongside photos, featuring model numbers EB-BS957CBY and EB-BS958DBY. This aligns with the SM-S957 and SM-S958 model numbers tied to the S27 Pro and Ultra.
Past leaks point to 5,534 mAh and 5,087 mAh rated capacities, translating to typical capacities of 5,700 mAh and 5,200 mAh respectively. Charging speeds are rumored to remain at 60W for both models.
This is a long time coming
If these figures are accurate, it marks the first time an Ultra model has received a battery capacity upgrade since the Galaxy S20 Ultra debuted.
This upgrade effectively means that the S27 Ultra is shaping up for larger capacity after years of stagnant battery sizes in the flagship tier.
Silicon Carbon Technology
This increase in capacity is likely aided by Samsung's recent adoption of silicon carbon battery technology, which allows for higher energy density within the same physical footprint.
The pictured batteries do not appear overly bulky, supporting the theory that denser chemistry is being utilized across premium models.
Expected Launch
The Galaxy S27 series is expected to launch in early 2027, with rumors suggesting Samsung may return to a January release window.
