Pricing and Configuration

With an OLED display and touchscreen capabilities, it is no surprise that the new MacBook Pro announced by Apple is more expensive than models released earlier this year. Upgrading the base models that start at $2,899 for the 14-inch and $3,399 for the 16-inch variants with every premium hardware option pushes those prices to $14,249 and $14,549, respectively.

Apple charges $14,549 for a fully specced touchscreen MacBook Pro

The maximum configuration is $4,400 more expensive than a fully specced version of the previous MacBook Pro generation.

Hardware Upgrades

Both premium configurations include the M5 Max chip featuring an 18-core CPU and 40-core GPU, $150 nano-texture glass, 128GB of memory adding $2,000, and a 16TB storage option that acts as the primary budget driver due to current component costs.

Maximizing the configuration of the previous 16-inch MacBook Pro topped out at $10,149. The new $14,549 price point is largely driven by the newly introduced 16TB storage tier, which adds an extra $7,000. Selecting the 8TB storage option instead brings the fully specced price down to $10,549.
