Leaked Source Code Enables Unofficial PC Port
Thanks to a Rhysida ransomware attack in December 2023 aimed at Sony and Insomniac, the 1.7 TB of data stolen contained an early version of Wolverine. The source code of the leaked PS5 exclusive paved the way for a solo developer to create their own PC port.

Early Build Plagued by Missing Textures and Bugs
It is currently a buggy mess; textures are missing, and the character's whole head is missing from multiple screenshots. Ironically, there is another screenshot where only the head is present, with no body in sight. The developer claims that neither KytyPS5 nor AnyPS5 were used, and that the 2023 leak was key to understanding how to generate a PC executable program.
Skeptics are claiming the developer’s screenshots are fake and from the old 2023 build; one claims they were able to port Wolverine to PC first, but the developer argues the screenshots are from a Jailbroken PS5 in dev mode. The developer further defends himself by comparing screenshots of the character's appearance in the 2023 leak versus their assets.
AI Assistance Used in Script Generation
The developer has admitted to using AI for assistance in creating scripts and automated asset conversion, though trial and error were handled manually. The creator further elaborates that the playable character doesn’t have a head because they haven’t ported over the PS5 shader library to render the hair, which otherwise freezes the game. They have temporarily disabled the whole head asset to focus on getting the game to run.
Community Reception to the Project
While commenters are excited about the technical work of the developer, they have expressed mixed feelings about the underlying game itself.

The PS5 exclusive has faced scrutiny, with some regarding it as an interactive movie. Viral footage has shown gameplay segments completing themselves without player input, leading to discussions about automation and player agency in modern titles.
Even if an official port of Wolverine were to materialize, questions remain regarding how the title's gameplay structure will be received by broader audiences.
