MapQuest will now show you where Flock cameras are in your neighborhood

You can see the locations of known outdoor surveillance cameras in the app.

MapQuest has rolled out updates over recent months, including Android Auto support and public transit directions, following a surge in popularity.

Camera Mapping Layer

The app now features a toggleable layer that displays known outdoor surveillance cameras and automated license plate readers.

The layer highlights where Flock cameras are located, alongside devices from manufacturers such as Motorola Solutions (Vigilant), Genetec, Axis Communications, Axon, Leonardo (ELSAG), Neology, Rekor, PlateSmart, Ubicquia, and Verkada. It sits alongside standard options for viewing traffic and incidents.

MapQuest announced the update alongside a promotional video.

Privacy Implications

While the layer may not help drivers completely avoid cameras on standard routes, it aims to illustrate the prevalence of recording devices in local areas and provide useful information for residents tracking community surveillance.
