Microsoft's Copilot app adds Office, natural coding and automation
It's yet another facelift for Microsoft's AI app.
Interface and Office Integration
Microsoft is rolling out upgrades for its dedicated Copilot app featuring a new tabbed interface and direct integration of Office apps. The update aims to make Copilot more functional for consumers and businesses, particularly enterprises handling data processing, report generation, and presentation creation.
The updated application introduces a Home tab for standard AI chats and general work. Microsoft states that the Home tab will eventually route requests intelligently between different Copilot modes, separating basic queries from complex tasks that require dedicated delegation.
Natural Coding and Autopilot
A new Code tab allows users to build small tasks using natural language prompts without programming expertise. According to Microsoft, users can describe applications, trackers, dashboards, automations, or workflows, allowing Copilot to select an approach and construct the project.
Additionally, an Autopilot tab introduces agentic capabilities, enabling Copilot to automatically manage recurring tasks and thread responses without manual intervention. This includes managing complex operations like supplier review schedules, meeting preparations, and stakeholder follow-ups.
